Year 8 curriculum, EduTest pace
10 timed practice papers (60 questions, 30 minutes) matching the EduTest Mathematics format for Year 9 entry and scholarship testing.
Built to the NSW Stage 4 syllabus with diagrams on roughly a third of questions, as the real paper has, and a fully worked solution for every item.

How our practice tests help
EduSpark goes beyond basic practice papers. These features are designed to make every practice session count.
Per-question time tracking
See exactly how long your child spends on each question. Spot where they lose time — rushing through easy questions or getting stuck on hard ones — and adjust their pacing strategy before exam day.
Automatic weakness tagging
EduSpark identifies specific topic areas where your child loses marks. Instead of re-doing entire papers, focus revision on the exact skills that need work — a smarter way to improve.
3 difficulty levels
Start with Standard papers to build confidence and foundations. Progress to Challenge for multi-step reasoning. Then tackle Advanced papers for the toughest questions under real time pressure.
Unlimited retakes
Re-sit any paper as many times as needed. Track how scores improve across attempts to build confidence and measure real progress over time.

Question types you'll encounter
Our practice papers cover every question type in the mathematics section of selective entry and scholarship exams.
Directed Number and Order of Operations
Multi-step calculations with negatives and brackets, where a single sign slip lands on an offered answer.
Percentage Chains
Successive increases and discounts, reverse percentages, and profit or loss — including the trap that +20% then −20% does not cancel.
Composite Mensuration
Shapes built from rectangles, triangles, circles and semicircles, usually with a piece removed.
Angles and Pythagoras
Parallel lines and transversals, exterior angles, polygon interiors, and right-triangle problems set in real contexts.
Data and Probability
Reading graphs and tables, mean, median, mode and range, and single or simple compound events.
Multi-Stage Word Problems
Three or four chained steps where an error at any stage produces one of the listed distractors.
Preparation tips for mathematics
- 1
Non-calculator. Look for the round number hiding in the working — the figures are chosen so it is there.
- 2
"None of these" is correct on several questions. If your answer is not listed, re-check once, then trust it.
- 3
Read what the question actually asks for — the total, not the part; the saving, not the price.
- 4
Draw on the diagram. Marking equal sides and known angles turns most geometry questions into arithmetic.
- 5
At 30 seconds a question you cannot finish by grinding. Bank the ones you see quickly and come back.
