What is the Opportunity Class test?
Opportunity Classes (OC) are for academically gifted students in NSW government primary schools. Year 4 students sit a competitive placement test to gain entry into OC programs for Years 5 and 6. These classes provide an enriched curriculum designed to extend high-potential learners beyond the standard classroom.
The test is administered by ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) and covers three areas: Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Reading. The exam is multiple-choice and takes approximately 110 minutes of task time across the three sections.
Competition is strong — thousands of Year 4 students across NSW apply for a limited number of places each year. Targeted practice under real exam conditions is one of the most effective ways to prepare.
