What does the Complete Bundle include?

The VIC Complete Bundle gives you all 4 VIC subjects (Mathematics, Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension) for $189, saving $47. The NSW Complete Bundle gives you all 3 NSW Year 7 subjects (Thinking Skills, Mathematical Reasoning, and Reading) for $149, saving $28. What subjects are available for NSW?

For NSW Year 7 selective entry, we offer 3 subjects: Thinking Skills (40Q, 40 min), Mathematical Reasoning (35Q, 40 min), and Reading (30Q, 40 min) — 30 papers per subject, 90 papers total. For NSW Opportunity Class (Year 4), we offer 3 subjects: Mathematical Reasoning (35Q, 40 min), Thinking Skills (30Q, 30 min), and Reading (33Q across 14 passages, 40 min) — 15 papers per subject, 45 papers total.

What year levels are available?

For VIC, we offer Year 9 Selective Entry papers (Mathematics, Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension). For NSW, we offer Year 7 Selective High School Placement Test papers (Thinking Skills, Mathematical Reasoning, and Reading) and Year 4 Opportunity Class Placement Test papers (Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Reading).

Can my child retake papers?

Unlimited attempts on every paper for 12 months. Practice as many times as needed.

Can I use my account on multiple devices?

Each account is licensed for one student on one device. You can change devices up to 2 times per month (e.g. switching from a laptop to a tablet). Sharing accounts is not permitted.

How long does each practice paper take?

Each paper matches the real exam timing. VIC papers range from 30 minutes per section. NSW papers are 40 minutes each. Your child can pause and resume if needed, but we recommend completing papers in one sitting to simulate real exam conditions.

What difficulty level should my child start with?

Start with Standard papers to build confidence and identify baseline strengths. Once your child scores consistently above 70%, move to Challenge papers for multi-step reasoning. Advanced papers are for students aiming at the most competitive schools (Suzanne Cory, Melbourne High, Mac.Robertson).

How are EduSpark papers different from free sample tests?

Free samples typically offer 1–2 generic papers with no explanations. EduSpark provides 30+ papers per subject across 3 difficulty levels, with per-question timing analytics, automatic weakness tagging, step-by-step explanations for every question, and progress tracking across attempts.

How many weeks of preparation does my child need?

Most families start 6–12 months before the exam. A structured approach works best: spend the first few months on Standard papers to build foundations, then 2–3 months on Challenge, and the final weeks on Advanced papers and timed full-exam simulations.

Are the questions based on the actual ACER/Edutest format?

Yes. EduSpark practice papers cover the same question types and skills tested in the real ACER selective entry exam (VIC) and ACER Selective High School Placement Test (NSW). Papers are timed to build exam-day pacing skills, and our content is written by experienced selective entry tutors.

Is online practice as effective as a private tutor?

For building exam skills, structured practice under timed conditions is one of the most effective preparation methods — and it's something even the best tutor can't replicate in a lesson. EduSpark complements tutoring by providing volume (30+ papers per subject), instant feedback, and detailed explanations your child can review independently. Many families use EduSpark alongside a tutor to maximise results.

My child already does well at school — do they still need test prep?

Selective entry exams test reasoning and problem-solving skills that go well beyond the standard school curriculum. Students who perform strongly at school often find the exam format, time pressure, and question complexity challenging without specific preparation. Practising under real exam conditions helps bridge that gap.

What if my child doesn't like practising online?

EduSpark is designed to feel like a real exam — not a game or an app. The interface is clean and focused, with a countdown timer, question navigator, and instant results. Most students quickly adjust because the format mirrors what they'll face on exam day. Starting with the free papers is a low-commitment way to see if it suits your child.

How much time should they spend practising each week?

We recommend 2–3 practice sessions per week, each lasting 30–45 minutes (roughly one paper). Consistency matters more than volume. Regular timed practice builds pacing skills and reduces exam-day anxiety. Review sessions — going through explanations for wrong answers — are just as valuable as the papers themselves.

How is EduSpark different from free practice tests online?

Free practice tests typically offer 1–2 generic papers with no explanations, no timing analytics, and no progress tracking. EduSpark provides 30+ papers per subject across 3 difficulty levels, per-question timing data, automatic weakness tagging, step-by-step explanations for every question, and score tracking across attempts. It's a structured preparation system, not just a sample test.
