Timed online practice becomes exam-day ready only when you rehearse the full ritual: start time, breaks, screen fatigue, and the skip strategy — not just answering questions on the couch with YouTube in the background.
Use this workflow in the final 8–12 weeks before the exam. The 2027 dates are not announced yet; expect around May 2027 for NSW Selective and OC, June 2027 for VIC selective entry, and whatever date the school sets for EduTest. Check the official site for the exact day.
Why simulation beats “another PDF”
- NSW Selective and OC are computer-based — mouse, scrolling, and on-screen reading need practice (NSW CBT format guide).
- The VIC selective entry exam takes about four hours including registration and breaks: a 60-minute Mathematics & Quantitative Reasoning part, a 55-minute Reading & Verbal Reasoning part and 40 minutes of Writing, answered on paper. Stamina matters (VIC exam format).
- Timing rules differ by pathway — see NSW / OC test length.
Exam-day simulation checklist
- Same start window as the real exam (morning for most sittings).
- Device ready — charged laptop, stable Wi-Fi, headphones only if your practice platform needs them (real exam rules vary; follow official instructions on the day).
- No phone, no parent coaching mid-paper.
- Use official-style timings for each section; do not pause the clock for “just one snack.”
- Working space that matches the real exam. For VIC, that means working in the booklet with pen (ACER doesn’t allow extra paper); for NSW, follow the Department’s instructions for the test day.
- Same-day review within 2 hours while memory is fresh.
